Liverpool Fans Cherish Harry Wilson’s Celebrations For Derby Against Man United
Second-tier Derby County beat Manchester United 8-7 in a dramatic penalty shootout at Old Trafford to reach the Carabao Cup fourth round, after the match ended 2-2.
There were 15 successful penalties before Derby goalkeeper Scott Carson saved Phil Jones’ weak effort low to his left. A lacklustre United took the lead through Juan Mata’s first goal in nine months in the 3rd minute. But the Reds hurt themselves through their unwillingness to kill off the game.
Liverpool loanee Harry Wilson equalised for the visitors with a brilliant dipping free-kick from 30 yards. The hosts were reduced to 10 men when Sergio Romero was sent off for handball, before Jack Marriott’s header put Derby 2-1 ahead.
Substitute Marouane Fellaini scored from a header in the 95th minute to salvage a 2-2 draw, but United lost the dramatic tie via shoot-out. An interesting thing happened in the match which, in turn, lifted the morale of the Liverpool fans.

Wilson, who smashed home one of the best goals this season, was seen with a wild celebration post his heroics. He held up five fingers after scoring. This was done to mock the Manchester United fans, as his gesture pointed to Liverpool having won the Champions League five times.

Earlier, former Liverpool forward Fernando Torres had performed a similar celebration at Old Trafford. The Merseyside outfit’s supporters, celebrating United’s defeat, took to Twitter to mention the player’s gesture.
Wilson had a terrific match at Old Trafford, as his swift movement and decision-making saw Romero making a mistake. The Argentine was sent off, which resulted in United losing the footing.

Four European Giants In The Race To Sign Ajax Sensation
Manchester United have entered the race to sign Ajax sensation Frenkie de Jong, as per reports in the Netherlands.
The versatile talent, who can play as a central midfielder as well as a centre-back, has been attracting heavy interest from all over Europe since the previous campaign.
He was heavily linked with a move to Barcelona and Manchester City in the summer of 2018, but no switch materialised, as the 21-year-old decided to stay put and continue his development in Amsterdam.
Now, according to Dutch newspaper De Telegraaf (via Metro), the two aforementioned clubs’ respective arch-rivals, Real Madrid and Manchester United, have also begun pursuing the Holland international’s services.
The Eredivisie giants have set a £71.5m price tag on their prized asset, but with such juggernauts of European football expressing their interests in the player, Ajax’s director of football, Marc Overmars, is already said to be “licking his lips” over the prospective bidding war.

The report states that Real Madrid are prepared to match Ajax’s high asking price, as the Galacticos view the youngster as the perfect long-term replacement for their midfield maestro, Luka Modric.
But now, with Manchester United having entered the fray, the Red Devils are said to be more than ready to match Los Blancos’ offer and steal the Dutchman from right under Real’s noses.
De Jong already has 2 international caps to his name at such a young age, whilst also boasting the best passing accuracy at Ajax, and the highest number of average passes (84) per 90 minutes in the whole of Eredivisie.
Naturally, apart from the English and Spanish powerhouses, Ligue 1 champions Paris Saint-Germain and Bundesliga holders Bayern Munich have also been impressed by the midfielder, which makes a continental bidding war all but imminent.
With Ajax sensibly aware that they will have to let their player join a bigger club in the future, a blockbuster transfer window can be expected as early as the upcoming summer of 2019. Where do you think De Jong will end up?

Paul Pogba hits out at Manchester United's approach to home matches
What Fans Are Saying About Alexis Sanchez After Wolves Draw
Saturday proved to be a woeful day for Manchester United.
What was supposed to be an easy game against Wolverhampton Wanderers ended in a 1-1 draw, with Fred’s debut goal falling short to provide the winner, as Joao Moutinho equalized for the Wolves in the second-half.
Jose Mourinho didn’t appear to be the happiest of men, as he stormed into the tunnel after the full-time whistle, and rightly so, as the side put in some great displays during the game, but simply couldn’t provide the cutting edge that was required to see the game through.
One player, in particular, has been facing the brunt of the criticism for his below-par showing, and that is Alexis Sanchez.

Player Ratings: Manchester United 1-1 Wolves
The Chilean, who was expected to have a spectacular season at Old Trafford, has failed to impress, and him being substituted on Saturday tells a lot about his showing.
In fact, fans have lost patience with his style and the sheer pay-grade he commands, and have taken matters into their own hands by tweeting at him after the dismal showing.
Alexis Sánchez is on course to becoming our worst signing ever. Gabriel Obertan and Bebe did more in a United shirt than he’s done. Fix up or get out.
— Ryan. (@Vintage_Utd) September 22, 2018
Alexis Sanchez must be the biggest fraud that Manchester United have signed in the last two decades. His destiny must be in a box somewhere at the Emirates stadium locked up and sealed.
— DaddyMO (@officialdaddymo) September 22, 2018
Alexis Sanchez's gets paid nearly £400k a week and his greatest accomplishment is playing the piano. One of the worst signings in PL history.

I am convinced we have bought an Alexis Sanchez doppleganger. This can’t be the one that played for Arsenal.
— Marwan Ahmed (@MarwanAhmed_KF) September 22, 2018
I just want Mourinho to do one thing and I’m not asking for much… Please don’t start Alexis Sanchez and give Martial a chance. Thank you.
— Red Devil Bible (@RedDevilBible) September 22, 2018
These aren’t flattering things to receive, and it seems quite grim for the former Gunner.
Clearly, his bad run of games is quickly running sour, and coupled with United’s own mixed form, the forward is enroute a barrage of doubt that we are all too familiar with.

With many names at the Old Trafford vying for his starting spot, this doesn’t bode well one bit.
Much hype was raised when he signed for the club last winter. Has all of that now been thrown in vain, or does some spark still remain in the once feared forward?

What Ramos Had To Say About De Gea Following Criticism For Poor World Cup
While comments of sportsmanship and praise are often hailed as classy in the great game, the modern version has rendered even those to be under scrutiny.
The possibility of transfers is often embedded in words of praise that countrymen have to say of their compatriots, particularly if big names and big clubs are involved.
At the same time, when stripped away from speculation and absent from any possibility of a move, they truly take on the nature of lauding one another.
Such a comment was made about David De Gea after he ensured that Spain edged past England 2-1, and the source of these words was none other than Sergio Ramos.

The Real Madrid captain had this to say about De Gea: “He is a great goalkeeper. We have always said it. The big games are those that mark the great players. After a World Cup with many doubts, he deserved. He had a great game, he has made some interventions that have marked the result of the game.”
Despite being one of the finest shot-stoppers in the world, the Manchester United man came under heavy fire this summer after an underwhelming outing with Spain in the World Cup.

As of such, much doubt existed over his future role with the European giants, but new manager Luis Enrique kept faith in the 27-year-old, and it was rewarded on the weekend, when De Gea kept his side in the UEFA Nations League.
The Lions had initially taken the lead in the 11th minute itself, when Marcus Rashford linked well with Luke Shaw to put the ball past his club teammate – a moment the Manchester United fans may have had mixed feelings about.
But first-half goals from Saul Niguez and Rodrigo brought Spain back, and saves on the other end by De Gea kept the scoreline rooted in victory.

OFFICIAL: Harry Maguire Signs A New Deal With Leicester
Clubs often tend to play the long game when it comes to those transfer targets who really appear to be worth it.
While in the past, a simple no or a breakdown in talks would discourage even powerhouses from pursuing their deals any further, these days, entire windows go past and multiple seasons are involved before certain sagas come to fruition.
Of course, the effect goes both ways, as parent clubs who are aware of the interest that their players may attract now tend to offer bumper extensions to their contracts – a brave effort at warding off temptations to switch.
Now, one Manchester United target is on the receiving end of such a ploy.

Harry Maguire has signed a five-year extension to his contract with Leicester City. The English centre-back, who was integral in the nation’s relatively successful World Cup run, emerged as a hot target for Manchester United late into the summer transfer window.

With the Foxes adamant at not selling their star-man, it was expected that the Red Devils would pursue the 25-year-old once more in the winter window.
The Reds, having failed at meeting Jose Mourinho’s transfer requests and their below-par start to the season, all pointed in favor of such a deal occurring.
However, that now seems like a highly unlikely possibility, especially considering United’s recent history with playing hardball with price tags.

Maguire had this to say about staying on with the Foxes: “Ever since I came to this club, I’ve always reiterated how good they’ve been to me.
“They gave me an opportunity to play in the Premier League and built a great platform for me to go and perform at the World Cup. I owe them a lot and I’m looking forward to the future.”
He is expected to play every minute of the Premier League campaign this season as well, and his skill-set certainly assures that Leicester have made a sound choice.
