Wayne Rooney is well and truly back in the game. The former Manchester United striker is making headlines around the world for his stunning performances in a DC United shirt barely a few months after deciding to take on a new challenge in the MLS.
The former English international came to the fore a few days ago after a mind-blowing series of events during the latter stages of a match against Orlando.
Rooney was seen performing a perfect tackle as the last man, and then magnificently set up the winner for his teammate with a cross-field ball that would have made Paul Scholes proud.
After that sensational display, the 32-year-old has now starred yet again for DC United against Portland Timbers, by scoring two brilliant goals and leading the team to a comprehensive 4-1 victory.

One of the two goals came from a superb free-kick from about 25 yards out. Rooney managed to get a lot of whip and curl on the dead ball, resulting in a marvelous finish which had the goalkeeper diving to no avail.
Rooney’s contributions to the MLS side since joining have been simply staggering, as they have helped the club jump from 9 points out of a possible 36 to a much improved 13 points from a possible 21.
What’s more, DC United now have their playoff hopes alive in the Eastern Conference of MLS, thanks to the major contributions of England’s top-scorer.
Several fans and supporters of the striker-turned-midfielder took to social media to commend the efforts of Rooney, with many referring to the phrase ‘still got it’.
With a performance like this, there is perhaps no doubt that Rooney is still one of the most influential footballers in the world, even though his legs aren’t quite the way they were ten years ago. His heart is most definitely still in the game.
