Manchester United have scouted teenager Umaro Embalo for the last few months, and reports suggest that they have tabled an offer worth £5 million for the winger.
The 16-year-old has caught the eyes of Red Devils’ manager Jose Mourinho after impressive displays for the youth sides at Benfica.
United’s chief scout Javier Ribalta, and head of development John Murtagh watched Embalo closely when Benfica’s Under 19s took on the United side in a 2-2 draw last month.
Benfica have reportedly accepted the money offered for the winger by the English giants, and the youngster appears all set to join up with the club’s academy.

The wonderkid from Guinea is being compared to winger Angel Di Maria, but will be hopeful to stay put for a longer span than the Argentine did at Old Trafford.
United face tough competition from defending UEFA Champions League winners Real Madrid, but are confident of securing the services of the 16-year-old when the transfer window reopens in January, due to their strong alliance with the Portuguese club.
Embalo, born in Bissau, Guinea, has scored 15 goals in 18 games for Portugal’s Under 17s, and he also made a 26-minute cameo against United in the UEFA Youth League this season. The teenager is yet to feature for Benfica’s senior squad, having only made appearances for their Under 19s side.
