Manchester United‘s woes continued this past Monday night, after the Red Devils succumbed to a 3-0 defeat at the hands of Tottenham Hotspur.

What irked United fans perhaps more than the defeat was the fact that despite playing well in the first half, the team was unable to take the lead and get a distinct advantage.

This was mentioned time and again by manager Jose Mourinho during his post-match interview and press conference, where the Portuguese boss highlighted his side’s dominance in the first period without anything to show for it.

What made the news, however, was his somewhat trademark rant at the end of the press conference, where the 55-year-old demanded respect for being the manager with the most Premier League titles in the league, more than all the other current managers combined.

There were questions raised over the former Chelsea boss’ future at Manchester United as well as the unity of the team during this trying period.

Despite the rumours that French legend Zinedine Zidane is on his way to replace Mourinho at Old Trafford, the Mancunian club’s goalkeeper David De Gea decided to let his own emotions out via a Twitter post that should give fans of the historic club some relief during this tough time.

De Gea posted a picture of the team with the caption: “United now more than ever.” Fans have been speculating about the dressing room’s reaction to the two successive defeats, and amid reports of a rift between players and manager, this post from De Gea does put things into perspective.

The Spaniard has been average lately, even if that doesn’t do his talent justice, conceding seven goals in three matches after winning the golden glove award last season.

His own future has been questioned several times, but it looks as if the custodian is satisfied in Manchester despite the problems at the English giants.
